Paintings, Steam Trunk, and comics.

Been doing lots and lots of work lately! Trying to finish up all my projects/commissions by Monday as I go back to college on Tuesday! (For those who dont know, I'm going back for Environmental Protection Technology. I love art and will never stop doing it, but life as an animator is extremely difficult.)

Did a painting this week! My first time trying to paint something semi realistic. I'm not 100% happy with how it came out, but I'm really glad I tried something different and pushed myself out of my comfort zone. (Art trade with a friend. Portrait of her cat)

Some people out there might remember me getting my hands on a REALLY old steam trunk a few months back. Someone was giving it away and the thing was GROSS. Covered in rust and dirt...and well, the pictures say it all.

I striped the inside down, washed the entire thing out the best I could with anything that would remove dirt/oil/grease/etc. Then I painted the entire thing a lovely shade of PLUM.

Afterwards I had planned to cover the inside with red paper...but it wasn't looking very good. Finally it dawned on me how awesome it would be to coat the inside (modge podge) with old comics. And so that's what I set myself to do!

(In progress photo)
FINISHED! It took a LOT longer than I thought it would. But I love the look it has! I wasn't originally happy with the color purple I had chosen, but with the comics inside it just -screams- super hero to me.
Looking down into it. I feel -kinda- bad about cutting up the comics. But they were some old ones I had gotten from Free Comic Book Day.
To be honest the Megalith comic looked the best as a wallpaper because of the colors in it. ANYWAY, the steam trunk is now all ready to be used to store my copious amounts of art and craft supplies!!
I started the sketch on another painting. This one is about 6-8 times the size of the cat one. Going to see if size makes a difference when trying to paint realistically.
Also here are some previews from comic pages I've been working on. (REALLY hope to have my comic up on Monday!! HERE'S HOPING!!)

Lookin' at pugs on the internet...thats what I do all day. (The comic panel actually isn't about pugs, I photoshopped that in just for the preview.)
 Little fat cat.
 Comic Panel! 8)
More previews! I have such a hard time drawing Joel's head. It looks like a squashed melon in this picture. (Hence why it's the only one NOT inked yet!)
Also on a pony craze! Did a drawing of Pinky Pie for a friend.
Also drew a silly MLP....in which I decided Patches would be her cutie mark. NO ONE wants that.
Moves some of the pictures around in my room so they are all on the wall that I face when I work. (As opposed to having my back facing them.) The guitar girl print is a gift from a friend. The two pictures in black frames (Not the photo) are from my high school art teacher...they give me good inspiration. The photograph in the black frame is from a photographer friend. (Shes so talented it HURTS). Then the red frame is my BAAA. (Bachelor Of Applied Arts in Animation)
The rest of the wall. Including a HORIBLE quality white-board I bought from the dollar store. (It sucks so bad) A little red wooden painting from an amazing college colleague! And a small hand made dream catcher from another talented friend. (For the record, I LOVE home made gifts/stuff to hang on walls!)
 Now for some silly stuff.

At orientation for college they gave out some free stuff. I ended up getting this AWESOME (I know, Im easily entertained) drinking container. It's solid hard plastic (including the straw) Which is awesome because Im lame and like to drink water out of these kinds of containers.
I was also handed a pamphlet for Jesus Christ the other day. I'm not religious but it had an AWESOME comic inside! I love how all of this is drawn! :D So awesome.

CHEERS!
